Bluish on back, silvery on side of head and body, and white ventrally; lower jaw blackish with red or orange tip.
Size: grows to 55 cm.
Habitat: surface inshore waters.

Southern Baja to the Gulf of California to Peru and the Galapagos, the Revillagigedos and Malpelo.
