Eyes on left side; body height 38-42% of standard length; head length 29-36% of standard length; eyes parallel, large, close together; mouth long, 47-50% head length, ends under rear border lower eye; teeth small, ~equal sized; 15-21 long, slender rakers on 1st gill arch; lateral line extending onto head, with branches to upper eye and below lower eye, strongly arched over pectoral fin; bases of pelvics symmetric; urinary papilla on eye side, immediately behind level of anus; eye-side pectoral 50% of head length; 63-70 dorsal rays; 47-55 anal rays; 67-84 lateral line scales; blind side scales rough from rear of lateral line arch back.
Eye side grey-brown, with blue reflections, many blue and pale brown spots, 5 dark brown ocelli along upper and lower body profiles, alternate ocelli most intense, dorsal and anal mottled dark and light, a dark spot on both sides of tail base; blind side white, dark spots on caudal peduncle.
Size: 40 cm.
Habitat: soft bottoms.
Depth: 3-140 m.
