If present nape cirrus is small, simple or leaf-like, nasal cirrus very short (< length of nostril tube), eye cirrus slender, <1/2 eye-diameter long; dorsal XXII, 8; anal II, 19, 1st spine of male free from rest of fin, modified as sexual organ; no ridge or fold along anal fin base; pectoral fin 13 rays; lateral line scales 39; belly scaleless; straight part of lateral line consisting of pores rather than tubes

Head & body uniform light olive; small dark spot behind eye, another below & behind it; opercle dusky; no dark spot on dorsal between 1st 2 spines; rays of soft dorsal, anal & tail may be barred.

Size: 3.6 cm.

Habitat: rocky areas.

Depth: 40-60 m.

Endemic to the SW Gulf of California.
