Northern Frail-disc clingfish
Body broad, slightly depressed; head relatively slender, depressed, snout shallow; top lip broad, wider at front than sides; a small round fleshy swelling at pectoral base; rear nostril over front edge of eye, front nostril with conspicuous 2-lobed flap; top jaw with a patch of conical teeth, followed by a row of canines; 3-5 pairs of round-tipped incisors at front of lower jaw, & a patch of smaller conical teeth behind; small papillae on lower jaw and extremities of mouth; 6-7 blunt rakers on 2nd & 3rd gill arches; anus closer to anal origin than sucker; pectoral 17-20 rays, no enlarged lower rays in male; sucker large (24-43% of standard length), without front or central papillae, with 3 rows of papillae across rear; dorsal 10-11 rays; anal 7-8 rays; tail 10 rays.
(Preserved fish) Overall dark chocolate brown, mottled, on top and sides; thin dark bar from eye down; fins dark, pectoral a little lighter.
Size: 12.4 cm.
Habitat: intertidal pebble beaches.
