ALBULA
BONEFISHES
Elongate, fusiform; head conical, snout overhanging mouth; mouth small, not reaching past eye; fins without spines; one short (16-17 rays) dorsal fin, in midbody; pelvics under rear half of dorsal; anal short (7-9 rays), well behind dorsal; scales small, smooth; lateral line straight, full length of body.
This circumtropical genus may contain half a dozen species. Two are known from the tropical eastern Pacific, one that is either a circumtropical species or part of a species complex, the other found in the tropical west Atlantic as well as the eastern Pacific.
