Overall brownish with heavy dark brown mottling on sides; a pair of oblique brown bands across cheek; prominent dark spotting on dorsal, caudal, and pectoral fins.
Size: Attains at least 13 cm.
Inhabits weed-covered rocky reefs.
Depth: 1-20 m.
Central Baja California and the Gulf of California to Peru, including the Revillagigedos and Galapagos Islands.
