ACANTHEMBLEMARIA

BARNACLE-BLENNIES

Body elongate; short blunt head; pointed or blunt spines on snout, under eye, sometimes on top of head; 2 rows of well-developed teeth on roof of mouth; 1 pair of branched or unbranched cirri over eyes; nostrils with cirri; notch usually present between spiny and soft parts of dorsal fin.

A neotropical genus with about 20 species; 9 species, all endemics, present in our region.
