Elongate, compressed; snout moderate length, blunt; top jaw short (almost reaching preopercle) with blunt, rounded tip; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; 3rd arch with rakers; lower rakers on first gill arch - 21-24; no large canine teeth; dorsal fin origin over anal origin; anal fin with very long base, 28-34 rays; pectorals short, not reaching pelvics.

Grey-green above, silvery below; a silver stripe ~3/4 eye diameter along flank.

Size: 12.5 cm.

Habitat: shallow coastal lagoons.

Depth: 0-10 m?.

SE Gulf of California.
