Elongate, compressed; snout very short (~1/2 eye diameter); membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; upper jaw relatively short, just reaching onto interopercle, tip bluntly pointed; no large canine teeth; third gill arch with rakers; 18-23 rakers on lower limb of first gill arch; dorsal fin origin in mid-body; fin relatively low; anal fin with moderate base, 21-24 rays, origin under middle of dorsal; pectoral short, not reaching pelvics; anus nearer tips of pelvics than anal fin.

Width of silver stripe on flank ~3/4 eye diameter; a dark line along the back.

Size: 7.5 cm.

Habitat: marine, pelagic, coastal.

Depth: 0-10 m?.

The Gulf of Panama.
