Moderately elongate, strongly compressed; snout medium length, ~3/4 eye diameter long, rounded; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; top jaw medium length, reaching onto interopercle, tip pointed; no large canine teeth; third gill arch with rakers; 12-14 rakers on lower limb of first gill arch; dorsal fin origin in mid-body; anal fin base long, 24-29 rays, origin before center of dorsal fin; pectoral long, reaching pelvic origin.

Silver stripe along flank narrow, ~1/2 eye diameter wide.

Size: 8 cm.

Habitat: marine, coastal pelagic, off oceanic sandy eaches.

Depth: 0-10 m?.

Nicaragua to Ecuador.
