Overview
Main identification features
  • body deep; snout pointed
  • top jaw passes preopercle
  • pectoral passes pelvic origin
  • a: long base (28-35), origin under dorsal fin origin
Moderately deep, compressed; snout short, pointed; top jaw medium length, reaching interopercle, tip bluntly pointed; no large canine teeth; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; third gill arch with rakers; 19-24 rakers on lower limb of first gill arch; dorsal fin origin in mid-body; anal fin base long, 28-35 rays, origin under or a little before origin of dorsal fin; pectoral long, reaching past origin of pelvic.

Silver stripe along flank narrow, ~ pupil diameter wide

Size: 15.5 cm.

Habitat: marine, coastal pelagic, probably tolerating lower salinities.

Depth: 0-10 m?.

El Salvador to Ecuador.
