Moderately elongate, strongly compressed; snout short (~3/4 eye); top jaw medium length, pointed; reaching onto interopercle, tip pointed; no large canine teeth; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; third gill arch with rakers; 12-14 rakers on lower limb of first gill arch; dorsal fin origin in mid-body; anal fin base medium length, 21-25 rays, origin under or a little before middle of dorsal fin; pectorals short, not reaching to pelvics.

Silver stripe along flank broad, (~ eye diameter wide).

Size: 8 cm.

Habitat: marine, coastal pelagic.

Depth: 0-10 m?.

Jalisco (Mexico) to Ecuador.
