Etymology: Antigonia: Daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, who defied her uncle, king Creon, by performing funeral rites over her brother Polynices and was condemned to be immured in a cave (Ref. 45335 ) .

Dorsal spines (total): 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26-30; Anal spines : 3; Anal soft rays : 25 - 27. Body pale orange, with 2 oblique pale reddish bars. Lateral line difficult to count. Body depth 1-1.2 in SL, more than twice head length. Pectoral fins longer than pelvic fins; slightly shorter than head. Cheeks and operculum with distinct scales. Gill membranes free from isthmus; branchiostegal rays 6 (Ref. 5318 ).
