Translucent whitish to yellowish with brown saddle-like markings below base of dorsal fin; a pair of thin oblique brown bands across cheek. Size: attains 4 cm. Inhabits empty mollusc tubes on rocky reefs. Depth: 5-30 m. Southern Baja and the lower 2/3 of the Gulf of California to southern Mexico. Attributes Abundance: Common. Cites: Not listed. Climate Zone: Northern Subtropical (Cortez Province + Sinaloan Gap); Northern Tropical (Mexican Province to Nicaragua + Revillagigedos). Depth Range Max: 30 m. Depth Range Min: 5 m.
