Eyes on left side; body elongate, sharply wedge-shaped at rear; head large; eyes large, lower one slightly before upper one, narrow between them, strong bony ridge over lower eye; snout long (5.5-6.3% of SL), very strongly projecting in adults; mouth oblique, medium length, ends under front of pupil; a large pointed knob at tip of chin of adults; teeth conical, ~equally developed on both sides of jaws, in 1 series on each jaw, no canines; gill rakers long, slender, serrated 16-20 on lower arm of 1st arch; base of eye-side pelvic on midline of body; urinary papilla on blind side, immediately behind anus; dorsal fin origin slightly before upper eye, with 78-86 dorsal rays; 62-68 anal rays; pectoral on eye side longer than that on blind side, about 85% of head length; scales large, slightly rough on eye side, smooth on blind side; interorbital ridge, and dorsal and anal fins scaled; snout scaleless; lateral line 44-50 scales; lateral line ~straight, developed on both sides, from edge of opercle to tail base; tail fin rounded, 17 rays with inner 11 branched.

Eye-side dark brown; blind-side pale brown.

Size: 16.1 cm.

Habitat: sandy bottoms.

Depth: 95 m.

Known only from the Galapagos Islands.
