Daceton armigerum is the only valid species in this genus. It is distributed throughout northern South America; Trinidad and Tabago, Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela, Surinam, Peru, Guiana, and French Guiana.
The workers have moderate, continuous polymorphism.

Natural history |
This species is arboreal and nests in hollow trunks and branches of trees. They are visual predators.
