The following material taken with permission from: Roy R. Snelling and Thomas J. Zavotink. A Revision of the Cleptoparasitic Bee Genus Ericrocis (Hymenoptera:Anthophoridae. THE WASMANN JOURNAL OF BIOLOGY 42(1-2), 1984, pp. 1-26 Diagnosis.—Both sexes with thorax black pubescent beneath and meso-and metatibiae without apical external patch of pale pubescence; female mesepisteraum closely and evenly punctate, without extensive smooth areas; male fifth sternite with dense fringe of long, dark hairs whose apices are curled ventrad. Description.—FEMALE. Measurements: head width 3.62-4.15; head length 2.46-3.18; wing length 9.0-12.0; total length 9.5-14.0 mm. Very similar to E. lata, but differs as follows: first flagellar segment about 0.80 times length of second, second to fourth segments all slightly longer than wide; punctures of ocellocular area contiguous to subcontiguous; me-sepisternal punctures more regularly spaced, without conspicuous smooth areas; side of propodeum roughened and subcontiguously punctate, only a small area below spiracle impunctate. Forewing uniformly dark brownish, marginal cell and apex dark. Pubes¬cent pattern similar to E. lata except: apicolateral portion of clypeus dark pubescent; anterolateral tawny patch of mesoscutum largely replaced by black hairs; scutellum largely black pubescent; metanotum with large median dark spot; metepisternum with large black area; thoracic venter black pu¬bescent; meso- and metatibiae without apical external pale patch; abdominal venter usually without pale spots. MALE. Measurements: head width 3.33-4.36; head length 2.41-3.28; wing length 9.0-12.5; total length 8.5-15.5 mm. Agrees with above description of female in details of punctation and general pattern of pubescence, but pale hairs covering most of paraocular area; mesoscutum with narrow band of pale hairs between anterior margins of tegulae which extends forward to anterior margin of mesoscutum in mid¬dle. Sternites entirely dark pubescent. Seventh tergite broadly bilobate, lobes more rounded and incision between them narrower and more angular than in E. lata. Distal fringe of fifth sternite similar to that of fourth, i.e., hairs are long, with their tips curled ventrad.
