Delsman's flounder

Eyes on left side; relatively slender, body height 41-44% of standard length; head blunt, length 23-29% of standard length; eyes ~parallel, top eye below upper head profile, with crest behind it; mouth short (24-30% head length), ends under front lower eye; most of teeth on blind side, in 1 row on both jaws; 6-8 rakers on 1st gill arch; lateral line not extending onto head, relatively straight; base of eye side pelvic on midline of body; urinary papilla on blind side, immediately behind anus; eye-side pectoral 60-80% of head length; 71-77 dorsal rays; 53-62 anal rays; 37-39 lateral line scales.

Eye side violet brown, a few dark blotches along lateral line, dorsal and anal with a few dark blotches; eye side pectoral dark outer half; blind side pale brown.

Size: 6 cm.

Habitat: sand and mud bottoms.

Depth: 45-50 m.

A Pacific subspecies of a neotropical species; Panama to Peru.
