Etymology: Galeus: galeos , a small shark or dogfish according to Aristotle and others. ( See ETYFish ) ;   schultzi: In honor of Leonard P. Schultz (1901-1986), Curator of Fishes, U.S. National Museum (based on an unpublished name proposed by Henry W. Fowler). ( See ETYFish ) .

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0; Anal spines : 0; Anal soft rays : 0. Obscure dark saddle blotches at first and second dorsal bases, and two bands on the tail; dorsal fins and caudal tip without black terminal marking (Ref. 244 ).
