GOBIESOX

CLINGFISHES

Tadpole shaped, head broad, depressed; sucker with papillae at front (broad band), center (2 widely spaced patches) & rear; top jaw with irregular outer row of pointed teeth, & a patch of irregular teeth behind them, canines along side; a large fleshy pad with free rear edge at base of pectoral fin.

A new world tropical to temperate genus with 27 species; 21 endemic species (including some freshwater forms) in the eastern Pacific, with 13 of those in our region.
