Body depressed; head moderate, well depressed, snout shallow; a large fleshy pad with free rear edge at base of pectoral fin; rear nostril over front edge of eye, front nostril with a simple, unlobed flap; top jaw with irregular outer row of pointed teeth, & a patch of irregular teeth behind them, a row of canines along side; teeth on lower jaw in 2 rows, outer row larger, 3-4 pairs of round-tipped incisors at front, followed by row of long canines; papillae on head poorly developed, short lobes, none on top lip or tip of snout above top lip; anus much nearer sucker than anal fin origin; pectoral 21-22 rays; sucker with 5 rows of papillae across front section, 2 widely spaced patches in center, 3 rows across rear section; dorsal short, 8-10 rays; anal 6-7 rays; tail 11-13 rays.

(Preserved fish) Top and sides pale, translucent, evenly covered with very small brown dots; fins clear, except for few dots at pectoral base; underside pale, 2 rows of larger dark spots from sucker to alongside anus.

Size: 2.8 cm.

Habitat: rocky bottoms.

Depth: 0-10 m?.

Costa Rica.
