Snout pointed; eyes small (1.5-2 % of standard length); relatively narrow between eyes (<4.4% of SL); body elongate, compressed, decreasing to slender tail base; large pores along lower and upper jaws, and on top of head, pore at top corner of operculum tubular; 3 pores at lower corner of preoperculum; each pelvic fin consists of a filament inserted under gill cover and reaching 2/3 distance to anal fin; top jaw with a knob at its lower rear corner that is before the top rear corner; front of roof of mouth with 10 strongly depressible teeth teeth, and granular teeth at front; jaws with inner row pointed teeth that become larger towards front, and outer rows of granular teeth; opercular spine weak, covered with skin; upper part of first gill arch with 3 small knobs and 1 long raker, lower part with 4-5 long rakers and 7-8 small knobs; front nostril low on snout, closer to lip than is rear nostril, rear nostril small (~1/4 eye diameter); dorsal fin 74-77 rays, its origin above base of pectoral; anal 53-57 rays; tail 14-15 rays; head without scales; scales small, imbedded, covering body; lateral line in 3 parts, top part (4 pores) between neck and dorsal fin; center part (15 pores) from above corner of opercle to just before anal fin origin, lower part (21 pores) from behind pectoral to rear end of body; male copulatory organs with a penis and 1 pair of large pseudoclaspers at its base, all covered by a fleshy hood.

Color of preserved fish: Uniform brown.

Depth: intertidal (5-7m).

Habitat: on mud bottom

Reaches at least 5.3cm

Known only from the shores of Panama Bay, Panama.
