Irridescent blue on back, silvery on sides; a black spot behind operculum; a faint yellowish stripe on upper side. Size: grows to 18.4 cm. Habitat: forms large inshore schools. Depth: 0-10 m?. Southern California to the Gulf of California to Peru. Attributes Abundance: Common. Cites: Not listed.
