LABRISOMUS

BLENNIES

Body robust; head broad, snout blunt; eye large; mouth large, slightly oblique; a branched cirrus over each eye, a pair of heavily branched cirri on nape; top jawbone exposed at side; dorsal fin notched between spines and rays.

A tropical to warm temperate genus found on both sides of the Atlantic as well as the eastern Pacific; with 17 species; 7 species in and endemic to the eastern Pacific, 5 of those endemic to our region.
