Long, cylindrical, wormlike; tail fin present, visible, confluent with dorsal and anal fins; tail tip flexible; front nostril tubular, points down; rear nostril in elongate slit covered with a skin flap, on underside of top lip just before eye; eye very small, nearer end of mouth than tip of snout; top of head and snout covered with many small, hair-like papillae, especially on snout and between eyes; pores on head are raised; anal fin low; head pointed with snout projecting well beyond mouth, with folds on underside; teeth on jaws and vomer uniserial, small, conical slightly curved; two teeth between top jaws and 2-4 on vomer; pectorals absent; gill openings low on sides, almost vertical, curved; gill pouch puffed out; dorsal fin low anteriorly, higher and in groove posteriorly; dorsal origin on head before gill opening; tail = 42% of total length; lateral line pores prominent, extends onto head over eye and onto snout, branching around rear of eye and along top jaw, and with large pores along side of lower jaw.

Uniform light yellow.

Size: 12 cm.

Habitat: mud and sand bottoms.

Depth: 20-85 m.
