This genus is monotypic, with one valid species, Liomyrmex gestroi. It is widepsread in the Southeast Asian region, including the Philippines.

Geographic distribution |
In the Philippines, it is found in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental Province, Negros Island and Mt. Maquiling, Los Baņos, Laguna Province, Luzon Island. This species is also found in Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Papua New Guinea, and Malaysia.

Natural history |
Liomyrmex gestroi may be a specialized predator of termites. The details of the termite relationship remain to be investigated. In the Philippines, this ant species has been found in forest leaf litter with termites.

How to encounter |
Investigate leaf litter, soil nesting, mound building and rotten wood nesting termites.
