Natural history |
Macrocentrus marginator is a parasitoid of clearwing moths (Sesiidae), such as Paranthrene tabaniformis (Georgiev, 2000), the ash borer Podosesia syringae, S. culiciformis, S. tipuliformis (Solomon, 1995), and other Lepidoptera . Solitary adult females have been observed to emerge from Podosesia aureocincta (Purrington and Nielsen, 1987). Tortricid hosts include Epinota sordidana, E. caprana, and Lathronympha strigana (Pratt, 1945). Typically, the flight season for this species is May through September (Eady and Clark, 1964). This species is occaisionally seen at lights (Eady and Clark, 1964).
