Slender, elongate, compressed; snout longer than eye; top of mouth notably extendable; teeth well developed, in bands; sensory pits on top of snout; first dorsal V spines, origin well before origin of anal; anal 21-22 rays; anus well before anal fin; pectoral reaches past origin of pelvic; pelvics reach 1/2 way to anus; dorsals and anal scaleless; 48-49 lateral scales.
Greenish, sides and belly paler than back; scales dusted with brown dots; bluey-silver flank stripe with dark upper margin; tip of snout, between eyes and V-shaped area on head dark; a line of dots across top of operculum to base of pectoral; lining of operculum dark; fins all pale.
Size: 17 cm.
Habitat: coastal lagoons, schooling.
Depth: 0-10 m?.
Gulf of California to northern Peru.
