Body elongate, very slender, rounded; eye moderate size; head long, low; snout ~conical, projecting beyond horizontal mouth, with slits and pores above mouth; mouth small; 1 short thick barbel on chin; preopercle smooth to weakly serrated; gill rakers short; dorsal XI-XIII, 22-25, spiny part relatively low, longest spine reaches only to 1st dorsal ray; anal with short base, I,7, spine slender; pectorals large,reach past pelvics, 20-23 rays; tail S shape; scales all rough, breast scales ~same size as those on upper body, 76-98 lateral line scales; no scales on soft dorsal and anal.
Pale grey-green, sides and belly paler; fins dusky with outer parts darker; inside pectoral dark.
Size: 40 cm.
Habitat: coastal bays
Depth: 1-20 m?.
