Identification
This is a large myrmicine ant with only 7 segments in the antenna. The mesosoma is reticulate and the anterior peduncle of the petiole is very long.

VIETNAM - Ha Tay (Ba Vi N. P.). [written by K. Eguchi, 26.Sept.2005]


Widespread throughout the Philippine archipelago.

Natural history
It nests arboreally but forages both in the foliage and on the ground. This ant is locally dominant where it occurs, and forms conspicuous columns.

How to encounter
This ant can be collected by general collecting, beating low vegetation over a white sheet, baiting with cookies or tuna, or hand-sifting leaf litter.
