Back grey-green; sides silvery white; a black spot immediately behind upper edge of operculum followed by a yellow stripe along upper flank; 1-2 dark spots on top of back under dorsal fin; inner halves of dorsal and tail fins pale yellow, outer halves clear, tail tips may be dusky. Size: 27.5 cm. Habitat: coastal pelagic. Depth: 0-10 m?. Southern California to the lower 2/3 of the Gulf of California and to Peru. Attributes Abundance: Common. Cites: Not listed.
