Bigeye longfin-herring

Elongate, compressed; deep bodied; eye large; pelvic fins absent; lower jaw projecting at front, short - finishes under eye; gap between 2 bones of top jaw; mouth points obliquely up; lower jaw with teeth; anal fin long, ~60 rays, origin nearer tip of snout than base of tail fin; 19-20 rakers on lower arm of first gill arch; pectoral fin a little longer than head; dorsal fin origin about midway between tail fin base and pectoral base.

Color dark spot behind upper corner of operculum.

Size: 21 cm.

Habitat: marine, coastal.

Depth: 0-10 m?.

El Salvador to Panama.
