Snout blunt; nostril cirrus simple, eye and nape cirri palm-like, eye cirrus larger; opercular spine flat, bluntly triangular; dorsal with one segmented ray, XXIX, 1, 1st spine moderately long; anal II, 18-19; pectoral 13; pelvic I,3; lateral line scales 39; scales on nape & in 2-3 irregular rows on pectoral fin base; belly fully scaled; no skin flaps on scales.

Light brown; body with 6 irregular bars or blotches; dark saddle on nape; head same color as body, lips, cheeks & underside mottled, row of dark spots on preopercular and opercular margins, a dark bar angle down and back from eye; dorsal fin spotted or mottled, with a dark spot at rear; anal fin with 6-7 dark bars; semicircular bars at top and bottom of base of caudal fin; irregular banding on rays of pectoral, pelvic and tail.

Size: 3.9 cm.

Habitat: rocky coastal areas.

Depth: 0-15 m.

Central to southern Mexico.
