  • spiracle: 2 folds
  • snout : ridges fuse at tip
Body shark-like with two equal-sized dorsal fins; head and adjoining pectoral fins forming a distinctly elongate triangular structure; snout cartilage forming 2 narrow ridges that converge at front 1/3 of snout; a large spiracle behind each eye has 2 folds; a row of thorny projections along midline of back from behind eyes to origin of first dorsal fin; tail fin asymetrical and without a distinct lower lobe.

Generally yellowish brown, whitish ventrally; snout somewhat translucent.

Grows to 170 cm and 18.4 Kg.

Inhabits shallow coastal waters, including bays and estuaries.

Depth: 0-91 m.

Central California and the Gulf of California to central Mexico.
