Dorsal and anal fins well developed; snout large, conical, overhanging, with keel along underside; lower jaw much shorter than upper; anterior nostrils tubular, at tip of snout; posterior nostrils without tube, next to eye; teeth pointed, in broad bands, a large patch of teeth under snout joined jaw teeth; dorsal fin origin slightly anterior to level of gill opening; pectoral fins relatively large, about 3.1-3.2 in head length, origin above gill opening; tail >2/3 total length..
