Click on image to enlarge. © Copyright Roger Steene, 2006 · 0 Sphoeroides angusticeps 2 thumbnails  •  slide show español Overview Main identification features narrow and concave between eyes mid back - 2 black skin flaps tan; yellow eyes and fins Dorsal rays 7-8; anal rays 7; body relatively elongate, the depth about 3.5 in standard length; narrow and concave between eyes; a pair of small black skin flaps straddling midline of back, just behind level of gill opening; sides usually with scattered cirri. Overall tan or light brown with pale mottlings, white on belly; iris and fins yellowish, basal portion of dorsal fin usually brown; skin flaps a back black. Size: attains 25 cm. Habitat: usually encountered near the bottom in sandy areas. Depth: 5-20 m. Ecuador, Galapagos and Cocos. Attributes Abundance: Common. Cites: Not listed.
