Nape cirri slender, simple or leaf-like; nasal cirrus moderate (<1/2 eye diameter); eye cirrus slender, 1/3-1/2 eye-diameter long; dorsal XIX-XX,7-9; anal II,16-18, 1st spine of male free from rest of fin, longer than second, modified as sexual organ; no ridge or fold along anal fin base; pectoral fin 13-14 rays; lateral line scales 36-39; 3rd pelvic ray tightly bound to 2nd, hard to distinguish; belly scaleless; straight part of lateral line consisting of tubes.

(Preserved fish) Head & body dusky; cheek with light, dark-bordered bar; lips dark; body with scattered squarish spots, rear ½ with 6-8 light, dark-bordered horizontal lines parallel to scale rows, 8-10 dark blotches along dorsal fin base; no dark spot on dorsal between 1st 2 spines; pectoral base dark.

Size: 3.2 cm.

Habitat: rocky areas.

Depth: 3-30 m?.

SW Gulf of California and Mazatlan to Oaxaca, Mexico.
