Nape cirri leaf-like; nasal cirrus long (1/2 eye diameter in female, 2X eye diameter in male); eye cirrus slender, 1/3 eye-diameter long; dorsal XX-XXII, 9-10; no ridge or fold along anal fin base; anal II, 20-21, in male 1st spine (with penis) long & curved, extends well past other anal spine; pectoral fin 13-14 rays; 3rd pelvic spine not bound to 2nd; lateral line scales 41-43; belly scaleless; straight part of lateral line consisting of tubes.
(Preserved fish) Cheek & opercle with dark blotches; lips with 4 pairs of dark bars; body with 9 bars, thicker above than below; dorsal with dark basal spots from extensions of body bars; no dark spot on dorsal between 1st 2 spines; anal with dark bars or evenly pigmented; tail clear, with a few ill defined blotches; pectorals & pelvics clear, with dusky bases.
Size: 4.7 cm.
Habitat: rocky and rubble areas.
Depth: 25-35 m.
SW Gulf of California and around Guerrero, central Mexico.
