Overview |
This species has been collected only once in Loce Co., Michigan on July 8, 1946, and is known only from the female. This bee was subsequently described by Mitchell in 1962.

Identification |
This extrememly rare bee is noted to be closely related to S. nitida and S. foederalis, sharing with the females of these two bees a characteristic spine coming off the center of the rim of S7. The outline of S7 in S. michiganensis is, however, only slightly indented, opposed to the deep central dip characteristic of both S. foederalis and S. nitida.
