Etymology: makue: Named in honor of the Tukano tribe for who the 'makue ñigi' (black pacu) represents a valuable species in their cultural life (Ref. 46931 ) .

Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal soft rays (total): 20-24; Anal soft rays : 30 - 36; Vertebrae : 39 - 40. Mouth is horizontal (Ref. 46931 ). A large number, 6 to 11 pairs, of teeth in the lower jaw for specimens larger than 100 mm SL (Ref. 46931 ). A small number of prepelvic serrae, 0-9; and total serrae, 10-23 (Ref. 46931 ).
