Generally light grey with blackish lines or blotches and dark spots more or less arranged in concentric rows on disc. Grows to about 47.5 cm (disc width 28.3 cm). Commonly seen on rubble bottoms adjacent to reefs. Depth 1-109 m. Southern Baja and the Gulf of California to southern Mexico. Attributes Abundance: Common. Cites: Not listed. Climate Zone: North Temperate (Californian Province &/or Northern Gulf of California); Northern Subtropical (Cortez Province + Sinaloan Gap); Northern Tropical (Mexican Province to Nicaragua + Revillagigedos).
