Overview
Main identification features
  • concentric lines/ rows of dark spots
Disc rounded, but with front-side margins nearly straight; snout rounded or bluntly angular; tail equal to or less than one-half of total length; tooth rows in upper jaw 26-35; tail fin rounded; skin smooth, without denticles or thorns.

Generally light grey with blackish lines or blotches and dark spots more or less arranged in concentric rows on disc.

Grows to about 47.5 cm (disc width 28.3 cm).

Commonly seen on rubble bottoms adjacent to reefs.

Depth 1-109 m.

Southern Baja and the Gulf of California to southern Mexico.
