  • dark blotches in center

Disc rounded, but with front-side margins nearly straight; snout bluntly angular, tail equal to or less than one-half total length; tooth rows in upper jaw 35-37; tail fin rounded.

Generally brown or brownish grey with irregular, variable sized, relatively widely spaced dark brown to blackish blotches and spots.

Size: grows to about 42 cm length (disc width 26 cm).

Habitat: frequently sighted on rubble bottoms.

Depth: 1-30 m.

Southern Baja and the Gulf of California.
