A Physical and Biological Inventory

In our day-to-day lives we often overlook the environment around us. We tend to go through life consumed by what lies in front of us without looking at the greater picture. Biological sciences attempt to explain much of what we tend to overlook as well as what we do see in a manner which makes us more aware of the whole.

In an attempt to contribute to this process, I conducted an ecological inventory of one of the local Athens-Clarke County Schools, namely Fowler Drive Elementary School. This inventory consisted of an itemization of the trees and herbs found around the grounds of Fowler Drive Elementary School. Some of these trees and herbs are native to the area, whereas others are obviously imported.

In addition to the inventory, an analysis of ant species found in the area was also conducted.
