One of the goals of the Discover Life in America program is forging a link between researchers, teachers and students. A pilot project to form such a link between local researchers, museum professionals, and teachers and students in Athens-Clarke County was conducted. The project, Biodiversity and Web Technology Training Course included ten days of class, lab and field work. During the workshop, participating teachers and students had an opportunity to visit the Museum of Natural History and other UGA facilities. They spent time in the Microbiology Computer Lab learning how to write web pages, and worked with several UGA faculty and staff.
Teachers were challenged to develop activity and lesson plans that would include biodiversity and web technology, while students were given the task of researching and writing a web page for one species. Below are links to photos taken during the workshop and links to the web pages the teachers and students finished. This project will continue through the fall of 1998, and as new pages are finished links will be added to them.
