| note | The transect lies within Ammophila breviligulata -- Panicum (amarum, amarulum) Herbaceous Vegetation and lies upon the western face of primary dunes at the edge of the ecotone that will transition to the dune swale where the shrub zone begins. The area is very exposed and open with very few Myrica pennsylvanica shrubs and tall Panicum amarum grasses. The transect is largely dominated by Ammophila breviligulata grasses. The transect is just a few hundred meters south of the Life of the Dunes Trail.;;slope : the slope is nearly flat with a few sections being as much as 10 degrees facing downslope to the west and the overall aspect of the transect is largely open with some portions facing westward;;All plants are currently dormant, though Myrica pennsylvanica is budding near transect, 2 barefooted visitors emptied the cups in the middle of the transect and turned over the cups leaving the cups at the end and beginning of the transect undisturbed presumably because they could not see them, these cups were intentionally disturbed, though the remaining cups nearly all had insects in them except for a single cup with no insects. |
