    Within about a week or so, I found (but did not photograph) the same species, possibly the same specimen, near where this one had been. notes
    This turtle was seeking shelter from rain. It appears to be male. Its shell was about 1" - 1.5" wide/long, and the shell's carapace (top) had an almost sticky texture. caption
