Chauliognathus deceptus - Mountain Soldier Beetle (Cantharidae) in the Colorado Rockies. Lake George at 8000 ft. (N38° 58.962', W105° 21.577°), Park County, Colorado, USA. August 24, 2005; Size: L = 12 mm (female). Found on Grindelia squarrosa - Gumweed. This beetle is montane (from the foothills up at moist meadows) and not found in the plains.
