Megachile casadae? Ckll in Colorado Springs, Deerfield Hills (N38 47.041', W104 44.930'), El Paso County, Colorado, USA; July 17, 2005; Size: L = 13 mm (female); Found and caught on Helianthus petiolaris - Prairie Sunflower in copulo in my garden. Note the red front femur of the male (left) is distinguishing mark for the species, and the 4 abd bands. A generalist visitor of a variety of flowers in the Southwestern USA. Female: L = 13 mm, sl.orange jbscopa; Male: L = 11 mm, blunt apex. See also montane M.giliae which may be a subspecies (Megachile casadae giliae). Named after Miss J.E. Casad.
