Keown Falls is best known waterfall in the west segment of the Chattahoochee National Forest. There is old CCC infrastructure around the parking area. This falls is very rainfall dependent. It also is reduced to a few drips in the summer. Sometime in the last two years, which is the last time I visited the area, a fire burned across much of the gorge. Judging by the number of cigarette butts I saw along the trail I can only imagine how the fire started.
