| The Florida bristle fern is endemic to Florida. It is very rare with most of the populations growing within tropical hardwood hammocks in Miami-Dade County. It is also known from a couple of sites in the Citrus-Sumter County limestone areas. The species most often grows on limestone but at this location, the colony is also on tree roots in a solution hole.
